Associate Mental Health Therapist
Alaysia Carr
Alaysia was born and raised in Riverside, California. She is committed to creating safe, affirming spaces and providing collaborative, structured, and empowering support to all individuals and families who are seeking to thrive. Influenced deeply by her grandmother—who served as a foster mother for over 30 years—Alaysia grew up witnessing the power of empathy, the realities of mental health challenges, and the life-changing impact a strong support system can have. Because of these early experiences, she understands the calling to serve and advocate for those navigating the difficulties of life.
Alaysia began her professional career in child welfare, where she provided services to adults, children, and couples navigating complex systemic barriers. Specifically, she worked as a strong voice for minorities and underserved populations, ensuring her clients were not only supported but genuinely heard within overwhelming systems. Her work in this field strengthened her clinical commitment to culturally responsive care, advocacy, and holistic family support.
She treats a wide range of issues focused on depression, anxiety, generational trauma, substance abuse, and immigration-related challenges. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She enjoys all forms of therapy, but she is particularly passionate about equipping families with practical tools that strengthen present-moment awareness and emotional regulation.
Alaysia holds a Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University, where she specialized in services to Hispanic communities and families, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from South Carolina State University. Beyond her clinical practice, she has extensive experience in international advocacy and community leadership. She is the founder of the nonprofit organization KibalamaZwill, which supports children in Uganda, Africa, by funding their education and basic needs. Her work consistently focuses on the intersection of clinical knowledge and real-world understanding.
