Yulissa is a passionate and dedicated bilingual mental health therapist. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Psychology from California State University San Bernardino. As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), she utilizes a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT, to support her clients in navigating their mental health challenges.
Her clinical experience spans diverse settings, including university counseling, community mental health, and substance use rehabilitation, where she has had the privilege of working with individuals from various cultural, socioeconomic, and personal backgrounds. Yulissa is committed to providing inclusive, culturally competent care that recognizes and honors the clients' unique backgrounds and experiences.
Yulissa values the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership and aims to create a safe and affirming environment where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions. She approaches therapy with empathy and respect, recognizing that every individual's journey is unique, and focuses on harnessing each client's strengths, supporting them to develop coping strategies and resilience in the face of challenges.
In addition to her clinical work, she enjoys spending quality time with her dog, Penny, who always knows how to bring a smile to her face. For self-care, she plays kickball and enjoys weightlifting, which allows her to socialize and foster new friendships. Yulissa also cherishes spending time with her friends and family, as those connections are incredibly important to her.
